Volunteer riders and drivers supporting the NHS and Hospices in Devon with a completely free out of hours courier service. We move blood, samples, medicines, donor human breast milk - in fact anything the NHS needs urgently. No paid staff or Trustees.
06.25am this morning, Ben turns out to a call from South Molton Hospital - an urgent sample to go to the labs in Barnstaple. But equally as significantly, this is our 4,000th call out this year. Incredible work done by our volunteers, all free to the NHS and Hospices we serve. #bloodbikes #swbb

July was another amazing month, with record levels of work carried out by our incredible team of volunteers. We have no paid staff, and we save the NHS and Hospices money every time they use our free service, money which can instead be used where it should - on patient care!

Our growth from when the current Trustees took over in 2021 has been astonishing. This chart shows how many items we have moved each year, and we will shortly reach the point where we have moved 20,000 items THIS YEAR! All done for free for the NHS and Hospices in Devon!

Earlier this week, volunteer car driver Grahame carried out his first emergency call out - moving urgent blood samples from Exeter to Bristol, meeting our colleagues from Yeovil Freewheelers who relayed the samples on the second half of their journey. Welcome on board Grahame!

The highest and lowest mileage bikes in our fleet pictured side by side. The bike on the left has done over 82,000 miles - the one on the right just 68!
