I finally, FINALLY, am working in publishing (in a geek and pop culture gig, no less!), after far too many stints in retail (and horrible desk jobs that we won't talk about).

It's nice to have some things to celebrate. =]

Because this week went REALLY fast, and I'm now playing catch-up. 😵‍💫😂

Watching Black Books for the bazillionth time, knitting, and drinking a mandarin orange soda after a busy day in publishing. This is brilliant. ❤️

Omg, I love working for a publisher of geeky books. ❤️

OMG, my brother bought me "Neuromancer" as a gift when I was much younger, and I stayed up until dawn finishing that one! It was so stinking good!

You know, I'd say yes, except this is probably going to be my normal for awhile. ::laughs::

My overanalyzation tendencies are really useful sometimes, but HORRIBLE when trying to gauge how I'm doing with a job.

So of course... I pick a career path where it's useful at least some of the time. =D

I mean, I didn't screw anything up. There was a little confusion that maybe gave me an extra 30 minutes of work to do. And I still managed to stress myself out.

Sigh. Lots of work to do on myself.

There is a lot going on in the world, and plenty locally, but taking a moment to acknowledge that:

You know you have trauma from a former workplace when... You're still in learning mode at the new job, no one is yelling at you, and you're anxious about making even the slightest mistake. 😬

Honestly, this place makes me think of some of the best people from my Barnes and Noble days, if they were all given the opportunity to use their skills and degrees on a daily basis in their roles.

I'm so damn excited about this. ❤️

Reflections on my first (partial) week at the new job:

SO many Arcane fans. So many geeks in general! Someone to talk Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss with! All of the pets on Teams calls! Rave reviews about my (clearly awesome) boss from her former underlings. Creative, passionate people everywhere!

See, also: Was looking forward to the heating pad in bed, which our cat promptly took advantage of, and has been sleeping on said bruised toe because I am a sucker who will not make her move. 😻

Very glad for caffeinated tea...

First day of the new job (Publishing! I made it! Hellooooooooo!), and I managed to stub my toe so hard on lunch break that I bruised it. I maintain that this was due to excitement. 😂
