Erah'sae's mom was an overbearing, status craving sociopath. Most of his siblings ran away to get away from the pressures to establish the family lineage through pairing up with more prominent families. Most of them are gone now.

Also, if I've left your community discord, it's not you, it's discord. I've dropped about 50 discord servers in the last week to try and get under the not having nitro limit.

FFXIV has way too many RP hub discords, much less event discords. I have 30 more I need to remove before I can join new servers to check on weird things for event calendar updates. This leaves me with -just- the hub / open world discords.

I run Erah'sae in real time but reference history in relation to MSQ events, k5 makes it easier with all the varied answers to "when is now in relation to then?". We may not know how many years it has been, but we have a good reference point for our characters during the Dragonsong War.

Something is love to see, is something where you could get your group of characters of rphub and have it drawn from the calendar, rp venues, or the like and say "here's places that might fit for you all" based on descriptions. Like Sif and Dug might get an Ala Mhigan pub and open mic night.

I don't know, venue popularity contests get just as bitter or more so than the individual ones. It's why I've refrained from doing a featured event on the calendar for so long.

Does co-op mode fanfic writing imply then distance of pvp fanfic writing?

I'm also going to borrow your term, hit hits differently than my go to description of "collaborative storytelling."

For clarity:

Translation tools, dictation engines, other accessibility tools. They're all fine, I think.

But don't go witch hunting. Some of us ALT+0151'd before AI and others have been chronically addicted to adjectives.

I do not miss moderating forums... but.... some days, I consider it.

I've always disliked the ephemeral of conversations on real time chat, even back when IRC was the 'thing', because you have to be there 'in the moment' or you're left out as things moves on. I'm very often not 'in the moment'

In all seriousness, for the number of times I've been asked back channel, no, I will not be making an IRC FFXIV network. That way lies madness.

Anyone suggesting we immediately jump ship and form all new communities right now probably doesn't have the community's best interest at heart.

Maybe not phpBB. I lasted 30 seconds before I remember how much I hated that platform.

My vote is IRC, phpBB, MediaWiki, and Mumble.

I don't. Most of them are there for me to reference when I need to or when people ask me questions for where to find a community about something. I stick my nose back in to make sure it's still civil and active or someone pings me.

I don't have the energy for the ones I should keep tabs on.

I have to remove myself from 50 more discord servers before I can cancel it. I purged 50 last week... There are too many roleplay discord servers.

Given the news about discord and the like, I'm seriously considering making an IRC bot analogue for the FFXIV RP Event Calendar Discord bot.

The queue times are better than follow up times on RP hooks. And both often contain stories about waiting for orphans, sometimes under the river.

When looking into roleplay comes up, I have a sort of existential crisis moment.

I keep trying to get her addicted to mahjong or fishing instead.
