I can understand if it's a regular article, but for a Master's thesis that is actively adopting decolonial lenses and Pasifika methodologies and citing Chamorro scholarship, shoddy work to not get basic facts correct.

I read research papers to quiet my mind before bed, but this has me miffed so I'll put it down for now but may pick it up again..or may not, all things considered. I have manyyyy papers downloaded and usually get back to them way later, and not often πŸ˜…

Funny part is CSP's article cited argued "scholars need to be critical of reductionist representations of the Pacific and should, instead, highlight the complexities of Pacific agency, complexity, and subjectivity in order to think more fully about [this era of human induced climate change].." πŸ™ƒ

Went to the map at the back, well there we were on their map with our Indigenous names of LΓ₯guas yan GΓ₯ni! There was even a Chamoru diaspora scholar cited (Craig Santos Perez!) but nope...that was disappointing. Particularly this being a well-researched Master's thesis. The Polycentrism, I beg.

Was reading a wonderful Master's thesis covering young people's perspectives in the Pacific by a great emerging (Euro yt) scholar who was mentored by Pacific Islander scholars from Polynesia.

Got to page 5, introduction to their definition of "Pacific Islands", saw the Marianas weren't mentioned 🫠

Story of my life: I committed to too many things. Reminiscent of when I line up to the fiesta table and I take a bit too much of everything and can't finish it all without sacrificing health 😭😩 then when any part requires multiple steps I lose focus & motivation to execute. STORY OF MY LIFE FORREAL.

So a reminder on the first of the month! I would love to have a book of nice memories of my time with students. Only two people have responded so far.

It's okay if folks are too busy or aren't interested in doing so. Please share with people I may not be in contact with?

Tested positive for Covid. I can't afford to not be working. I need $100/day for room/food. Preemptively asking because I know I'm going to sleep for at least 3 days. Anything helps. Mvto.

One of the reasons I talk about extractavist companies mining in Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, SΓ‘mi lands (mainly Norway/Sweden), several African countries, etc is because we are fighting the same battle. It isn't just the US/Canada.

Western countries routinely destabilize non-Western countries and then wonder why there are so many refugees

If you’re not getting things done and are exhausted all the time lately it’s the fascism. It’s trying to eat at us all. Take time away from the horrors. Touch grass. read a book. Do anything but sit and try to take it all in. It is meant to overwhelm you.

Please help if you can, and help us get this boosted to lots of folks outside of Minnesota. So many people here are tapped out because we've been feeding neighbors and keeping people housed on our own, without the help of @governorwalz.mn.gov for *two months* and the needs are great❀️

Today should be your 38th birthday..
When you lose your son you lose more than a child you lose a piece of your heart and your joy. Life is forever altered, and nothing can ever fill that space. Yet in my soul, he remains, my precious boy, forever loved. His laughter, his smile, and his love are woven into who I am. My love for him will never fade. Yor are my pride and my joy - you've made a change that cannot be broken..

This doesn't mean I'm not open to dating folks from other places but after having to explain to both my brothers in law (yt m3n, one ethnically "Mexican" but yt) that we islanders here do not need winter clothing because we do not have winter here, I rolled my eyes to high heaven & said never again.

When you date someone different/not from your place, you spend more time getting them "up to speed" (to the level you need) and to me, that is inefficient, tbh. I've witnessed my sisters. So I usually date Chamorros. One was mixed white, another mixed Filipino, but all were childless Chamorro men πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

My younger sis asked me what my type is the other day, she's been witness to the m3n I've dated seriously, she doesn't even know πŸ˜‚ they've all been different. The only serious preference is that theyre ethnically Pacific Islander/Native, preferably Chamorro bc I'm not teaching a grown man my customs

Bento boxes by the beach watching kids play in the ocean in the afternoon, kbbq in the evening with a new friend, after-dinner walk on the beachside pathway for easier digestion. Today was a good Sunday.

Solipsism is such a good way to describe this stupid country. Last night I saw video of a guy acting like the Superbowl is some worldwide event, and genuinely talking like the entire world is the US. I've said for years, these people just think other countries are "the US, but lesser."

I didn’t realize how navel gazing Americans are taught to be, or manipulated into being, until I lived there for a decade. Simple things about the world outside theirs are not important enough to know. It’s terrifying because it ensures they cannot perceive the humanity of those in other lands
