I can understand if it's a regular article, but for a Master's thesis that is actively adopting decolonial lenses and Pasifika methodologies and citing Chamorro scholarship, shoddy work to not get basic facts correct.

I read research papers to quiet my mind before bed, but this has me miffed so I'll put it down for now but may pick it up again..or may not, all things considered. I have manyyyy papers downloaded and usually get back to them way later, and not often 😅

Was reading a wonderful Master's thesis covering young people's perspectives in the Pacific by a great emerging (Euro yt) scholar who was mentored by Pacific Islander scholars from Polynesia.

Got to page 5, introduction to their definition of "Pacific Islands", saw the Marianas weren't mentioned 🫠

Reminiscent of when I line up to the fiesta table and I take a bit too much of everything and can't finish it all without sacrificing health 😭😩 then when any part requires multiple steps I lose focus & motivation to execute. This doesn't mean I'm not open to dating folks from other places but after having to explain to both my brothers in law (yt m3n, one ethnically "Mexican" but yt) that we islanders here do not need winter clothing because we do not have winter here, I rolled my eyes to high heaven & said never again.

When you date someone different/not from your place, you spend more time getting them "up to speed" (to the level you need) and to me, that is inefficient, tbh. I've witnessed my sisters. So I usually date Chamorros. One was mixed white, another mixed Filipino, but all were childless Chamorro men 🤷🏽‍♀️

My younger sis asked me what my type is the other day, she's been witness to the m3n I've dated seriously, she doesn't even know 😂 they've all been different. The only serious preference is that theyre ethnically Pacific Islander/Native, preferably Chamorro bc I'm not teaching a grown man my customs

Solipsism is such a good way to describe this stupid country. Last night I saw video of a guy acting like the Superbowl is some worldwide event, and genuinely talking like the entire world is the US. I've said for years, these people just think other countries are "the US, but lesser."

I didn’t realize how navel gazing Americans are taught to be, or manipulated into being, until I lived there for a decade. Simple things about the world outside theirs are not important enough to know. It’s terrifying because it ensures they cannot perceive the humanity of those in other lands
