Extreme poverty fell sharply worldwide – even excluding China. Line chart of global extreme poverty rate, 1990 to 2025. While the per capita consumption of olive oil has remained steady (increasing with population), the consumption of kiwis or pistachios has seen its rise alongside population growth. Interestingly, increased fruit and vegetable consumption is often associated with economic improvement.
