Real name's Geoff (if ya don't know, it's pronounced the same as Jeff). Nicknamed 'Dab' since forever. Terrible at board games, but loving every minute when I get to play them; kinda cranky old man; reluctant consumer of content. 'A little Dab'll do ya!'

23.09.2025 15:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A high-angle shot shows the board game "The Plum Island Horror" set up on a large, blue-neoprene mat gaming table, ready for play. The central game board depicts a detailed map of Plum Island with various locations, pathways, and illustrations of buildings and natural features. Several small, standee-style game pieces representing characters and monsters are placed across the board. To the left of the main board, there's a vertical stack of red-backed game tokens in a tray, and below it, two large, horizontally oriented player mats with character information, abilities, etc. To the right of the main board, a set of three gray card trays holds various game cards with different colored backs, indicating different decks. Below these trays, there's another player mat with character tokens and additional game information. In the upper center, the game box for "The Plum Island Horror" is visible, featuring evocative artwork of a stormy island scene and grotesque creatures. In the background are shelves filled with numerous other board games, suggesting a dedicated gaming space. The overall lighting is warm, illuminating the game components clearly and highlighting the intricate details of the board and cards.
Set up for my 1st go of 'The Plum Island Horror' by @gmtgames.bsky.social . It's a bit complicated and rules-heavy for me, so I'm going to watch a few playthrough videos first, as there are many steps to each turn. I have also backed the expansion on their P500 system.

The board game box for "2001: A Space Odyssey" stands upright on a blue textured surface. The black box cover is dominated by a large, fish-eye lens. Reflected within the lens is the glowing red "eye" of the HAL 9000 computer and the faint silhouette of an astronaut. Three white and purple EVA pods float around the lens against a dark, star-filled space background. The bottom of the box lists the designer, Phil Walker-Harding, and the publisher, Maestro Media.

Small, colorful player pieces and cubes are scattered across the board. The 'Spooktacular' game box is propped up vertically at the far end of the board, serving as a backdrop. To the right of the box, a large, purple, multi-sided die and a red component tray are visible. In the foreground, arranged below the board, are various game components: On the left, a player mat for the Killer Car character, with a deck of cards and a large, white-handled magnifying glass resting beside it. In the center, a black cloth bag with "SPOOKTACULAR" printed in a stylized blue font. Next to it is the automa card for "KILLTRON 3000," which features a vintage poster-style illustration of a blue robot. Four ticket-shaped tokens sit above the bag. Tried out the solo automa (Killbot 3000) for Spooktacular by @level99games.com tonight, and loved it! It's a fairly light game, but a lot of fun. My only issue is that the meeples which you "Devour" are not very coloblind-friendly. But I get by.

I've set a personal time cap at 2-2.5 hours per session for max enjoyment. I love the fact that it doesn't matter, at least to me, whether I accomplish my missions or goals or destinies, etc. I just like the book I am writing as I play. It's a keeper for me, like a comfy, good book on a rainy day.

A close-up, eye-level shot of a new board game, still in its clear plastic shrink wrap. The game box is rectangular and the cover art features a ripped piece of white paper with torn, jagged edges at the top and bottom. The title, "But Then She Came Back," is written in a rough, shaky, black font that looks like it was drawn with a crayon or charcoal pencil.
