I like how its patchwork nature also gives off the impression of a walking reef! it just makes sense, an intertwined fossil community continuing to support each other after death and revival

I can't disagree with your opinion! Very few other aquariums have the chops to experiment with rare species like siphonophores and predatory tunicates, and even fewer so actively exhibit undescribed species as part of the scientific process

really cool, i love how you manage to give the impression of leaves without them all muddling together

that being said I think the space/efficiency constraints are still there as a general "rule" and especially at bigger-than-human-sizes isn't an effective way to go about things

05.10.2025 01:13 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

it's unclear if this is *true,* however, because Meganeura-sized griffinflies existed up to the end-Permian, which had *less* oxygen than the Carboniferous!
in addition, there are some ways to improve the efficiency, for example by pumping the abdomen

Increase in tracheal investment with beetle size supports hypothesis of oxygen limitation on insect gigantism

the popular consensus was that bc the tracheal system needs more and longer tubes to get oxygen at large sizes, crowding out other stuff (in beetles, that's nerves and hemolymph in the legs 4 example), big bugs are only possible in high oxygen environments

that's an interesting concept for sure, organs near the insect parts for armor
when i think about it, stacking important stuff in the abdomen might also help against front attacks?
considering the inefficiency of spiracle breathing at large scales her lungs i'd assume might be in her human torso too

her abdomen is pretty big too, so i definitely think it would be physically possible to double up on organs even if i donโ€™t know what would pressure itโ€ฆ

something i've always wondered are where her organs are - I know Ekaitz's snakey bits are basically just a flesh/bone tail, are there any body parts of value in Ashaya's abdomen? is that where her stomach and breathing system are, or is it just all meat inside

03.10.2025 23:44 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

banger of a new ref!! it's interesting that her arm anatomy was modified to resemble a mammal arm more than previously, where the tibia was extended like an insect's

I feel like it just makes sense for both to be supernatural beings, and I definitely feel both would inevitably kill each other, like it's always a double-death type situation, but then somehow revive and come back for more
