It's storming in the Bay Area. ☂️ So, here's a little story to keep you warm. Prince knew how to put on epic shows. His most memorable one may have been the 2007 Super Bowl halftime show. Before the event, Prince met with legendary producer Don Mischner (producer of The Beatles, Michael Jackson, and The Rolling Stones) five times to plan the show. Prince was going to put on the greatest show he could! They developed a performance that encorporated four guitar changes, twin dancers, and a full marching band. All the while, he and his dancers were to wear high heels. Then... the unthinkable happened. In the 40 years of Super Bowl history, it had never rained on a performer. Right before halftime, it started to absolutely POUR. The producer (Don) was concerned that Prince might pull out, due to concerns about the slippery stage. So he called Prince, and they had this legendary exchange: 📞 Don: “Prince, I want you to know it’s raining.” Prince: “Yes. It’s raining.” Don: “Are you ok with that?” Prince: “CAN YOU MAKE IT RAIN HARDER??” Conversation over. Prince and his dancers went on stage in heels and delivered an instant classic, using the rain as part of the performance. It was heralded as the best Super Bowl halftime show in history and was a highlight of his incredible career. The takeaway: Marcus Aurelius, the Roman Emperor and Stoic philosopher, wrote: "The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way." Don’t waste your time wishing things would change. Focus your energy on dealing with the issues confronting you and stand strong. These obstacles are only opportunities in disguise. ...
