The problem is that everyone loves and hates different things for different reasons; some valid and some stupid as fuck.

Navigating those tastes with civility is the goal, but each person is an entire novel that only opens for a special few.

So, naturally, we go off what we get.

It's always better to focus on individuals who do wrong. I'd say most, if not all, of the hate I see isn't from the shows themselves but a run in or two with nasty people who like them. But you're right that there will always be nasty people, the goal is to cut them out as soon as possible.
