I'm so glad I got to ride an e300!

Hi I'm under the English channel speeding at 160km/h and I just think it's really neat what we can do when we build good things instead of evil things

Anyway.... With this brief interruption for existential and political observations, we're going back to regular rail programming. We're currently cruising at 300km/h towards Calais.

I'm going to leave it at that for now, as this is something I'm still figuring out. But having lived for 15 years in a country that's been rapidly lighting itself on fire, I'm terrified seeing the same impulse here.

Coming from the ruins of Yugoslavia, I know it can happen anywhere.

It's so hard to communicate how it looks from a US perspective, but despite legitimate hardships, what I see in Europe is real and physical improvements to public infrastructure. Paris is unrecognizable to me, having last visited long before the Georges-Pompidou expressway was turned into a park.

I also crossed the Schengen-UK juxtaposed control for the first time. My last hard European border crossing was my visit to Serbia a month and a half ago. I have so many thoughts about Europe after traveling around it for the last 4 months, but EU Europeans don't know how good they still have it.

I ended up pushing my train by two hours so I ended up with this awful no-window window seat. It also got dark in the meantime so it's not the worst thing in the world.
