had a best pace ever and a Bombs gold for the first time in over 2 years on Monday. So I guess I'm still improving slowly, even though this month has been awful IRL. :) wish I felt better overall, oh well

So I guess maybe hopefully I’m on the up and up. Hang in there everyone.

Life has been extremely heavy lately. This week was one of the worst of my life, tbh. But I’m not gonna trauma dump here. SM is impossible to play well when I’m mentally compromised, but today I managed to pull a run that I was actually impressed with, despite the final time.

I’m gonna do this thing at the end of stream today. I’m starting WR attempts now so if I had to guess I’ll start the watch back stuff in probably 3-5 hours depending on how runs are going and how I’m feeling etc

Today is the 1 year anniversary of the 40:22 Any% WR. I’m going to do *something* for that on stream today, but I’m not sure what yet or what time. Sorry I always announce this stuff last minute.

lol I lost like 20 seconds in Worst Room In The Game in this run

and from Gravity to the end time, is only like +5 seconds. That's actually crazy that it's less than the amount of time we lost *just on Ridley*

Excellent execution this run. Phantoon lost us something like 12-15 seconds in RNG (the rest of the timeloss at Gravity was probably moat and other little movement things), and Ridley gave us an unfavorable pattern that lost 7 seconds compared to WR (we can save 9)

The Any% grind is going so well for me right now. It’s hit that spot where I can see the ebbs and flows and honestly do feel like I just need to “patiently continue” from here. I only had the one good run today, had another decent-ish pace that fell apart at/after Ridley, but that’s just how it is.

First run of the day, plenty of slop :)

3 paces tonight. Clutched this one out. It only had 7 supers entering Ridley, some other jank, and ended up needing a refill in Tourian (left metroids 1 super short). Lookin good.

Another contender for best executed run since record -- lost 10 seconds to Phantoon RNG, a few more to drops RNG, and 6ish seconds to Mother Brain RNG. Speedrunning doesn't really work like this, but if all that RNG was the same as the WR, this would've been another 2x. Hype.

Kingofthehill476 pulled off a new low% (13%!) run of Super Metroid a few weeks ago. Today I had the pleasure of buying him lunch and doing a collaboration stream where he explained his setup to make it possible and discussed some other things about the run! It’s up on yt now ⬇️

Both these runs had some pretty "bad" stuff. Not awful, but definitely not WR type RNG, etc. Great times considering that.

Sometimes in speedrunning you just get mega trolled all day. That was yesterday. Playing bad. When I played good the game was stupid. The rest of the time, my controller was broken LOL. Today I decided to reset my mindset and re-approach it. Practiced for like 5 hours. Worth.

Some sloppy mistakes in Maridia and then more bad RNG from Draygon and MB. Definitely showing lots of potential here.

Really sick run considering the things that didn't go well. Had really low energy leaving Phantoon (had to farm and lost a few seconds), 4th best pace at Gravity. Ridley gave me a 2x pattern (2nd worst) and we lost about 20s compared to an optimal fight there. Bad drops too.

In order for me to effectively grind, I need a space that is both organized and comfortable, or I get distracted easily and frustrated more easily too. And Nia needs to be happy too. So yeah. Anyway that’s it. Not sure if I’m streaming tonight or not but it’ll be good next time.

Anyway idk why I’m sharing all this here but whatever. I think it’ll be a good change. I’m still off work and want to push Any% really hard for the rest of the time I have. I’m not sure if that’s gonna be another week or another month. Depends on what my doctor says. But…

That also limits where I can realistically put my camera, which also means if I switch the way I’m facing I have to reverse all the data and stuff on my stream layout. Because autism stuff or something idk. It bothers me when I’m not looking at the game though lol

It’s also important to me that my camera is positioned in a way I can see the Squirtle Sign on my wall in the background. That was a gift from Sassy and I honestly can’t express enough how important her support of my streaming stuff has been the past 5-6 years. So, it stays.
