Absolutely crazy stuff happening to the Any% Ridley fight right now. The WR run had a fight that was 63-64 seconds long. (time is 54.54)

That being said, that first video has remained the most watched on my channel all these years. Until yesterday. The Super Metroid Any% World Record finally overtook it in view count! Pretty cool.

A little less than 10 years ago I randomly posted a video about Dark Souls 3 on my YT and went to bed. When I woke up it had gone viral, which would lead to a few months of DS3 content creation before I made a fatal mistake on my channel that I wouldn’t recover from 😆

They say never meet your heroes, but I can honestly say every time I spend time with this man I’m better off for it. It’s gonna be a great week!

It’s honestly very surreal that the guy who was the single largest inspiration for me in speedrunning also turned out to be such a good friend for me, and such an anchor for me emotionally and mentally over the years as well.

Zoast has since become one of my best friends, and he’s here staying with us for a week! Thursday-Saturday we will be streaming an event focused entirely on good vibes and “hanging with friends” called “Back to the Basement”.

Often times he would be playing again as I was going to sleep. I was able to reconnect with my favorite game with childhood, and found a community that I felt comfortable in, not to mention the extremely comfy vibes of his stream in general.

It was good in many ways, but I was neck deep in recent traumatic experiences and also a new husband and father. Work was also very stressful. Any given day I felt like I was about to break, but in my downtime at work I was able to watch Zoast do WR attempts

When I reconnected with Super Metroid speedrunning in 2014 one of the first streams I ever watched (at all) was @zoasterino.bsky.social . What started as a curiosity into what watching a speedrunner stream would be like quickly turned into a comfort space for me. Life was hard at the time.

I'm doing a "trial run" here in the next hour or so where I will eat hot chicken prior to the run. I don't necessarily expect it to go well, but it will hopefully give me some indication of my readiness levels haha. I'll try to post that VOD to YouTube as well later. XD

Some of you may remember that when I did Zenithon last winter one of the incentives was to do Single Norfair Reverse Boss Order after eating one of the One Chip Challenge hot chips. I plan to do that as part of my "Back to the Basement" event that is happening in two weeks.

Gonna do a watchback on stream in a few mins, will post that to YT later as well.

Since I know a handful of people will ask "what's next" -- I have some casual stuff I need to deliver for my Zenithon that I think I'm gonna focus on for a month or so, then I have my local stream with friends event in September, and then I'll decide what to push in runs next.

Finally clutched out GT Classic World Record. This took way longer than it should have. My PB 3 weeks ago was 3 frames slower than Zoast's previous run, and I had I think 10 or so paces that could have WR since then, but I just kept throwing at the end of the run. Finally.
