Oh man, speed is really something that you train with effort. Its wild how one off-hand comment from a teacher can stay with you for so long.

An unforeseen advantage of leaving academia to be an artist is that I have lost a big pressure to perform at a certain level at a certain age. Artists start at any age and only improve with time. Plus theres not really a linear type of progression.

I’m thinking of making ‘blind box’ soil bacteria pins. You open a package and 1/6 potential bacteria is inside. Both as a fun gift and genuine way to communicate that scientists have the soil as a blind box and find whatever they find.

Little doodles drawn with pen on paper are the most charming thing EVER though. Thats how xkcd started as well and people loved it.

I still often make weird English phrases. Yesterday I asked my husband if he wanted me to “close the light”.

I've recently started reading the Realm of the Elderlings series for the first time and I've never fallen in love with a book series so fast! Here's some Fitz + The Fool

Somehow crashing the Mako in Mass Effect didnt do this to me. It may be the lack of traffic. Cyberpunk really puts you in a busy city with trafficlights and tons of vehicles while in mass effect im just parallel parking into a crater.

I massively dislike the driving part or cyberpunk 2077. I have regular nightmares in which I lose control of the car Im driving and Im such a bad driver in that game that it just fuels that fear. (Based on very little. I haven’t actually lost control of a car irl)

Ooh I really like his take! Also the AI problem reminds me of a recent issue with papers. I found one that had used AI to generate a graphical abstract and once I realized that I immediately distrusted the rest of the paper.

If they took a bad shortcut with that part, who knows what else they did.
