congratulations, Arden!
two separate reviews for piece by piece saying "i would die for [character]" and they're not even talking about the same character. my job here is done
it's been 9 years since my first international pitch went live, and almost 11 since i started writing altogether. it hasn't gotten any easier, but it's completely changed my life for the better. eternally grateful for sites like unwinnable taking a chance on new voices unwinnable.com/2017/03/11/s...
Been a sec since we've run one of these threads: Hey there, we're Unwinnable! We've been publishing 100% independent pop culture criticism since 2010.
Since we mainly count on reader funding, our writers write what's on their minds -- not what's best for the algorithm or investors.
anyway I'm sitting at the front of the bus and its not too cold out and there are blackthorns blossoming and I get to write everyday so I think some things are very good
i had a 1 on 1 with a tutor from my class yesterday and I mentioned i was scared of draft 2 and she said "it might need less work than you think." now I'm not at all naive to the rigours of editing but i have been thinking about that for 24 straight hours. it might need less work than you think
when i went to the theatre 3 months ago i was early and it was the first time i'd been sitting around & felt the urge to work on the novel draft (though i'd been concepting). today i'm going to the theatre again and i'm 1/3rd of the way in. also i'm running way too late to write. much to think about
If anyone is willing the share the following, I would be so grateful!
We just launched Piece by Piece on Steam ππ
It's a cozy repair shop sim, you play a woodland fox who inherits his grandfather's store. You fix up items with your hammer and paintbrush π¨ποΈπ¦

i'd describe this novel as "my most semicolon forward project"
i figured it out half when i was falling asleep and half on the treadmill. put in a good thousand words even after a full day of work today. for every it's so over there is an equal and opposite we're so back
believe me when I say I had many, many thoughts about cozy games while writing this and I hope some of them are reflected in it
words i wrote trailer ππ¦
i saw this happen to somebody else recently and god can you imagine if the way it bursts is they all just devolve into this. it would be SO funny
wow, thanks google!
anyway i've been stuck on the next scene of my novel for a few days which explains my tweets
thinking about when i had weird feelings about getting good feedback on the first couple of chapters of my novel & i was trying to explain those feelings to a friend & she was like "it sounds like you're saying writing well is tricking people into liking the writing" & i was like...yeah
thinking a normal amount about how often people say "writing is magic" (real, mysterious, generative) vs how i keep coming back to "writing is stage magic" (tricks, glamour, sleight of hand)
been feeling antsy and unproductive lately and i just managed to entirely trick myself out of it by going through the process of signing up for a trail run except i closed the window before actually paying and going through with it. i have the emotional smarts of a small child or perhaps a pigeon
i told my dad the game i wrote is coming out on wednesday and he said "did you know they were making it into a game when you wrote it?" i remain fascinated to imagine wtf he thinks i do for a living
for IWD i think everyone, especially in games media, should stop making me reference this gif in the dms at least once a week
now i love a documentary. i love to see how they warp reality into a storytelling framework. but a movie that says "based on a true story"? now THAT is catnip to me
just had this exact thought again and typed it out and then was like. wait. i've said this before right
