Six key themes and findings have been distilled from a comprehensive analysis of the insights gathered from the community organisations and discussions held during the unconference. 01. Hongkongers reconciling their different identities as individuals 02. Family dynamics changing as different family members navigate their transition(s) 03. Loneliness and isolation as Hongkongers adapt to their new home and local community 04. Navigating health care services and the NHS with different cultural and practical expectations of a health service 05. Navigating the education system with different cultural and practical expectations 06. Challenges around finding fulfilling employment and feeling confident in their professional abilities
The report, based on community voices, offers a series of actionable recommendations for individuals, communities, and the health and care system.
All of which were developed at a special in-person unconference event held in October 2024...

π 73% young people said they had experienced two or more of points of pressure in the past year - such as increased pressure to provide for the immediate family or support others with their emotional wellbeing - with around half (54%) experiencing more stress within their immediate family.
26.02.2025 17:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A landscape image - there is an orange board with a paragraph of text in the middle. The text is flanked by graphic quote marks and the quote therefore reads: "They [my mum and sister] have to work more and they have to work harder just to make enough money. It also affects being comfortable to speak about emotions. Because with cost of living crisis it's kind of always lingering there in the back of your mind, like 'can I buy this or that, can I do this or that?'"
New research alert...
'The crisis makes us more alone', Toynbee Hall's new peer research report reveals how the cost-of-living crisis is impacting young people's access to emotional support.
We're delighted to have played a role in this work. Thank you to the peer researchers & families involved.
