It's to do with the (really badly written) Online Safety Act which unfortunately if UK tech companies such as VRCDN don't comply to could be open to fines up to ยฃ18 mil or 10% of worldwide revenue (whichever is greater) or prosecution.

If so then then theres a couple of options
-The perpetual option would be to backup to an SSD and use something like VEEAM Desktop Agent (which is free) to schedule regular backups
-Or get a subscription to a cloud storage service
Depends on how much you need to backup & whether you mind subscriptions or not really.
If it's only small amount you're backing up? Then you can use cloud services for free for that.
Google Drive has 15GB free
Dropbox has 2GB free
Onedrive has 5GB free
but going above that requires subscriptions
