The Scottish Government was hoodwinked by the shooting lobby. We need more public education about the danger of wildfires, the power to ban ALL open fires within specific geographic areas in times of high fire risk. Get a grip @scottishgov.bsky.social

High numbers of deer damage the vegetation and prevent regeneration of trees and shrubs. In my opinion there is no alternative but to shoot deer. However it should be done without restricting access, to maximise the numbers culled and not for sport.

Not certain that this is a good thing.
Firstly the @cairngormsnews.bsky.social is not especially flammable. So we need curbs on all open fires throughout Scotland in times of high fire risk.
Secondly Muirburn is excluded. Surely this is recreational burning.
Lastly Byelaws are difficult to enforce.

I agree. We need a whole new approach to woodlands. Natural regeneration should be the default option.
Grants to have high deer numbers in one area and fenced woodlands in another should not be allowed.
An overall reduction in grazing mouths is required and an end to the Victorian Deer Forest.
