It will be interesting to see how overriding charter rights, forcing a rejected labour deal on workers, and threatening substantial fines will impact Alberta's plan to add and recruit 3,000 new teachers over the next 3 years.

Opinion: Alberta undermining public education — and democracy Any government that undermines ... the project of improving public school education in the face of difficulty is undermining ... democracy.

Opinion piece from David King, former Alberta Minister of Education in a Progressive Conservative government, published in the Edmonton Journal (of all places), addressing the conduct of the UCP towards our public education system.

It is absolutely worth reading.

Forever Canadian Official Campaign Website Forever Canadian campaign is a grassroots coalition of Canadians aimed at reinforcing Canadian unity. It is a proactive vehicle to secure Alberta's continued place in Canada.

🇨🇦 Do you agree Alberta should remain in Canada?

Alberta’s nurses do. We’re very concerned about how separation from Canada could damage the public health care and public services that Albertans rely on everyday.

Obvious risk for pts, moral distress for EMS and nursing staff who are still onsite, and likely the beginning of the end for many of these communities. Very few people will tolerate zero access to ED and will move to a town with more stable health services

Canada, beware: Alberta is the canary in the coal mine Canada is not America. Not yet. But if we do not defend our values, compassion, fairness, equality, and truth, we will lose them

"And now, Alberta is becoming cruel...It tells us that the rich are “job creators” instead of modern-day feudal lords. It convinces us that we should slash the social safety net so that those who need it most are punished for being born poor, disabled or unlucky."

Sharp drop in global crude oil prices drags down Canadian energy stocks | Globalnews.ca West Texas Intermediate crude, the key U.S. benchmark, dropped as low as US$60.45 per barrel today.

Looks like all of her ‘diplomacy’ was useless. Will be interesting to see how the UCP spins this.

Opinion: Does Danielle Smith know we can all see and hear her? — The Globe and Mail The Alberta Premier’s spectacle of naked self-interest has been broadcast for all to see. Does she think everyone’s too stupid to notice?

This also sums up why so many in Alberta no longer support this ‘conservative’ party…nothing is ever a problem unless it affects them directly.

Opinion: Attack on AHS reveals the failings of surgery privatization While politically convenient to blame AHS, responsibility for surgical wait times sits squarely with the government.

New Edmonton Journal op-ed

“Analysis of publicly available data, found no evidence to support Premier Smith’s claim. In fact, the research shows the opposite to be true.

Someone has been receiving more funding & not delivering results—just not AHS.”

Oh I am sorry - it is incredibly difficult to lose a parent, and you are never actually prepared regardless of the circumstances. I hope you find some comfort knowing your mom is no longer suffering.

Agree 100% that none of those things will work…what is needed to get the wheels moving for a recall? I think there are a ton of people who don’t want to wait for 2027 (more after the Harper announcement) but do not know how to make it happen (myself included)

PRESS RELEASE: Unions demand seats on the AIMCo board and a return to “Optionality” EDMONTON – The leaders of nine of Alberta’s largest unions, representing hundreds of thousands of Albertans workers, have sent Premier Danielle Smith a letter demanding seats on the AIMCo board.

Ok this seems positive but will Dani actually listen and allow representation outside of the UCP and their cronies on the board?
