Bill Dixon's recorded output is filled with wondrous music, of course. But as I've mentioned previously, I find the stretch of albums he released on Soul Note between 1980 and 1999 particularly strong. Especially Thoughts (1987) and Son of Sisyphus (1990), both of which are simply astonishing.

2 recently unearthed Rahsaan Roland Kirk live recordings, from 1963 and 1967 respectively, to be released this Nov.: Vibrations in the Village: Live at the Village Gate (w/the great Henry Grimes, among others) and Seek & Listen: Live at the Penthouse. This time, there are even CD options on the way.

This missed my radar this summer. Delighted to learn Mark Tokar, who I was reliable told had been on the front line for the Ukranian defence force, has been able to play again. Looking forward to dig further into this.
