The lines I forgot

Want to know what else I forgotโ€”
and why it ended up being the most human moment of the talk?

This weekโ€™s Speak Human newsletter is all about the lines I lostโ€ฆ

and what I found in their place.

๐Ÿ“ฐ Read it here:
speakhuman.kit.com/posts/the-li...

18.11.2025 23:22 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Hereโ€™s the thing:

๐ŸŸก You can miss a line and still land the message.
๐Ÿ”ต You can forget your script and still find your truth.
๐ŸŸข You can be imperfect and still make an impact.

18.11.2025 23:22 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Afterward, people asked:

โ€œHow did you remember it all without slides or notes?โ€

The truth is:
I didnโ€™t.

Not perfectly.
But I did know my story.
I knew the beats.

And when I forgot a line, I found connection instead.

18.11.2025 23:22 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

And yetโ€”
That moment was the line.

I was literally doing what Iโ€™d planned to say:

Breathing in adrenaline, uncertainty, noise.
Breathing out calm.

Holding the pause.
Letting the silence settle.

18.11.2025 23:22 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Iโ€™d practised the pacing.
Iโ€™d memorised the rhythm.
Iโ€™d broken the talk into scenes and sequences.

I thought I was ready.

But when I stood on stage at the Compassion Revolutionโ€ฆ

My mind blanked.

And I lost the line.

18.11.2025 23:22 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I forgot one of my favourite lines.
Right in the middle of a talk Iโ€™d rehearsed for weeks.

A line that captured the heart of what I wanted to say:

And yetโ€ฆ
In the moment, it vanished.

Youโ€™re moving on too soon

๐Ÿ“ฐ This weekโ€™s Speak Human newsletter is all about that pauseโ€”

and how a moment of silence can make your message unforgettable.

speakhuman.kit.com/posts/you-re...

18.10.2025 02:54 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

So next time you're tempted to click forward too soonโ€ฆ

Pause.

๐Ÿง  That last slide might be your most powerful one.

Not because itโ€™s new.

But because you gave it space to land.

18.10.2025 02:54 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Because silence isnโ€™t awkward.

It says:

โ€œThis matters.
Take your time.
Feel it.
Think it through.โ€

18.10.2025 02:54 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The best communicators know:

๐Ÿ›‘ Donโ€™t rush your ideas off stage.

๐ŸŸก Count: oneโ€ฆ twoโ€ฆ three.

๐ŸŸข Let the image breathe.

๐Ÿ”ต Let silence do its job.

Holding the slide longer is an act of generosity.

18.10.2025 02:54 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Youโ€™ve practised the message for days.

Theyโ€™re hearing it for the first time.

And just as it starts to landโ€ฆ

Next slide.

Meaning takes a moment.

But we donโ€™t always give people that moment.

18.10.2025 02:54 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

๐Ÿ–ฑ๏ธ โ€œClick.โ€

Just as your audience is about to get the slideโ€”
you move on.

And the moment is gone.

Weโ€™ve all done it.

We click forward when weโ€™re done speaking.

But theyโ€™re not done thinking.

Nervous energy is contagious. So is calm.

More on this in the latest Speak Human newsletter:

โ€œNervous energy is contagious.
So is calm.โ€

The nervous system leads the message.

Steady yourself
So your audience can meet you there.

01.10.2025 22:38 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

๐Ÿ›  Try this simple reset before your next talk:

Plant both feet

One slow breath in

One long breath out

Remember: โ€œIโ€™m here to help, not to impress.โ€

01.10.2025 22:38 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Itโ€™s not about being slick.โฃ
Itโ€™s about being ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜ต๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ.โฃ
โฃ
Want to shift the energy in the room?โฃ
โฃ
Start by shifting your own.

Which meansโ€ฆ

โš ๏ธ If you rush, they rush.
โš ๏ธ If you stumble, they tense.
โš ๏ธ If you disconnect, they drift.

Butโ€ฆ

โœ… If youโ€™re grounded, they settle.
โœ… If youโ€™re clear, they listen.
โœ… If youโ€™re present, they connect.

You can have perfect slides and a killer scriptโ€ฆโฃ
โฃ
But if youโ€™re rushing, fidgeting, or disconnected?โฃ
โฃ
Theyโ€™ll sense it.โฃ
โฃ
Why?โฃ
Because of ๐ฆ๐ข๐ซ๐ซ๐จ๐ซ ๐ง๐ž๐ฎ๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ.โฃ
Humans are wired to ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ค๐˜ฉ the energy in the room.

Public speaking tip:

Your audience doesnโ€™t just hear your words.
They feel your nervous system.

Let me explain ๐Ÿ‘‡

The 3 things that fix 80% of talk disasters

The goal isn't to be perfect.
It's to be ๐˜ฑ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต.

Regulate yourself before you try to reach others.

Most people try to fix their ๐ฌ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ž๐ฌ.โฃ
But the smart ones start with their ๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ž.โฃ
โฃ
Before you speak, try this:โฃ
โฃ
โœ… Breathe out longer than you breathe inโฃ
โœ… Stretch or shake out your bodyโฃ
โœ… Smile (a real one)โฃ
โœ… Make eye contact with one human

๐ŸŸข ๐†๐‘๐„๐„๐ โ€“ Regulated / Ready

Low, steady breath.
Eyes on the audience, not the exit.
Youโ€™re calm, grounded, human.

This is where resonance lives.

๐ŸŸก ๐˜๐„๐‹๐‹๐Ž๐– โ€“ Masked / Performingโฃ

Youโ€™re delivering the words, but disconnected.โฃ
Youโ€™re half-present, half-panicking.โฃ
Functioning, not flowing.

This is survival mode - and itโ€™s where many presenters ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ต.
