Our team is now a WHO Collaborating Centre for the Promotion of Healthy & Sustainable Diets. Which is pretty cool (well, I think it is anyway).

Zero mention of which genAI their bullshit program is built on, just nebulous claims that "Alpha School is a model built from first principles" but also they have "campuses in Austin, San Francisco, Miami, LA, Washington DC, Dallas, and other metropolitan areasβ€”and more locations launching soon."

β€˜No to war’: SΓ‘nchez doubles down after Trump threat to cut off trade with Spain PM says his country will not be complicit in growing conflict in Middle East β€˜simply out of fear of reprisals from someone’

"It is absolutely unacceptable that those leaders ... use the smokescreen of war to hide their failure and, in the process, line the pockets of a select few – the same ones as always; the only ones who profit when the world stops building hospitals and starts building missiles" Pedro Sanchez

My job as an academic would be much easier if I didn't have to write any papers, submit any research grants, or teach any students.

Are you kidding me? Fuel Duty rates have bene held steady for 16 years while costs for public transport and general ethical choices have soared.

Raising fuel duty is one of a very short list of things that this government is getting right. Very poor from the Lib Dems.

If you are three years away from a general election and you have five parties in England polling between 14% and 23% then NOW is the time to start talking about how to cope with that. Preparing the electorate for pacts, informal alliances, etc. That's what we'd do if we lived in a smart country.

Whatever else this is from Paul Ovenden, demanding Labour MPs back Mahmood’s immigration crackdown, it is the most over-written, pretentious thing I’ve seen for some time.

I know we're not going to get electoral reform before the next election. But why aren't we moving towards formal pacts between the parties? Why is our politics so averse to this? Why are we just relying on a vague notion of 'tactical voting'? There has to be a better way!

How on Earth can we have a First Past The Post voting system with five parties in England polling between 14% and 23%?

If the polls are like this at the time of the election the outcome will be a lottery. This is not democracy.

Starmer has an opportunity to demonstrate a change in attitude and policy by denouncing unprovoked and illegal attacks on Iran and stating that he will not support US and Israel offensive. Let's wait and see if that happens.

In base 10, if your fraction has a denominator with only prime factors of 2 and/or 5, it is terminating. Otherwise it is repeating.

In any base, your fraction terminates if and only if its denominator shares prime factors with the base. Otherwise, it is repeating.

Labour’s Send reforms get this right: disabled children in mainstream schools is transformative for everyone | Frances Ryan It doesn’t fit neatly on a Treasury spreadsheet, but there is huge value in disabled and non-disabled pupils learning together, says Guardian columnist Frances Ryan

"If you want a sign of where a nation is heading, there are few clearer litmus tests than how those with power see disabled children. Are they a problem to be erased? Or valuable kids to be included?" @francesryan.bsky.social is excellent.

One day we will look back at this system of student loan repayments and be amazed that it was allowed to happen. We put a high tax on the development of skills and pretend it is a loan. And we apply that tax arbitrarily on the basis of age.
