“Can't blame somebody for a lack of opportunity that was never here”: Exploring Poverty in Caerau (Bridgend) Nestled at the head of the Llynfi Valley of Bridgend County is Caerau, which was once a thriving mining community. The village is now quiet with only a few new commercial developments in many decades....

We've spent the last few weeks looking at the challenges facing some of the communities hardest hit by the closure of heavy industries in South Wales. First up is Caerau which lies to the north of Maesteg features in the top 5 of the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation. talkingwales.co.uk?p=1106

Residents of Dolgellau give thanks to the Gods as the clocks on their microwaves, car radios, ovens and VHS players all tell the correct time for the first time in 6 months.

Following the historic victory by Plaid Cymru at the Caerffili Senedd by-election on Thursday, the 23rd of October 2025, graffiti appeared on the shutters of Reform's temporary offices in the town. This is our homage.

So the Labour Government in Westminster expect immigrants to speak English to an A-level standard. I look forward to them reaching Welsh language GCSE standard here in Wales....

Apparently the rat has been offered a 5 year contract by Caerffili FC, the fee hasn't been revealed but he's expected to earn around 4 pounds of cheese a month.

Pistyll Rhaeadr is Wales' 3rd highest waterfall. Located near Llanrhaeadr y Mochnant (The church of the waterfall of the policemens stream). It was built in 1902 by local minister Dan Duwiol to attract people to his struggling chapel. The pump was originally powered by children.
