#sketchbook: Hometown hockey team announced a rebrand a couple weeks ago. Seeing what they did, I got an idea and worked it up into what's in this clip. I've enjoyed sketching out script marks of late, so it was fun to get angular and thunderbolt-y. #personalproject

#sketchbook: Local hockey team now goes by T-Birds (mgmt change = name change). Liked the idea of twin birds making a somewhat T, so doodled this out for fun. No Easter eggs, just a couple of birds with hockey sticks.

#sketchbook: Kept planning to make a quick vid for this last Utah Mammoth logo concept, but #NHL preseason is here, and my backlog is yelling. Highlights: intro copper, tusks form a U, star for SLC on the away shoulder patch. All-in-all, a simpler brand package. #conceptart

#storytime: Logged Sunday hours yesterday to help a client stay on schedule. My house was raucous, so I found a shady spot in a city park to work. Guy tried to break into my car not knowing I was inside. Jumped out the car armed with a MacBook in one hand, I ran him off.

#sketchbook: Postscript on my spear logo #ConceptArt from the other day. I thought I'd be able to get this idea closer to actual, but time isn't on my side atm. If the Commanders did the spear, I thought it could make for a fun desktop toy for tracking wins. #RaiseHail

So def going to carve out time to do a psychobilly #illustration series of 32 hockey mascots driving ice smoovers. I’m debating about mounting a slush fountain atop the vehicle (prob too much) and whether or not to shade (I’m so used to working in flat color) #wip #conceptart

13yo daughter walked into my office, randomly said “cool iceman” and plucked my Utah Yeti logo hat out of a fog of clutter.

Podcast idea: Lost and Zounds

My 13yo attempts to explain to me, who only watched a couple episodes of Lost when it first aired, what's happening on Lost, which she's diligently binging over summer break, while I make (or pick up) dinner for the family.

#sketchbook: Posting this before the Commanders share their new stuff on 7/9. For my third team #conceptart take, if they bring back the spear for the uni, I'd make it the primary logo. It works with the name, simplicity is great, just enough historical connection.

#sketchbook: Over on Twitter/X someone said they’d want to combine an old goalie mask with a mammoth skull. I found myself stuck in queues today, so I did some GPT promoting for reference. Jumped into Procreate when I got home and made this creepshow. I think I heart him. #conceptart

Unlocked the “Dad, I don’t think we’re supposed to be here. I’m sure it’s fine, kids. I’m going to talk to the officer” dad merit badge last night.

Grateful to have my kids close. Heart’s with those who are going through separation and loss in light of recent events.

#sketchbook: All the spear talk (I’m sticking with arrow) has me thinking about a Part 3 crack at a Washington concept.

Probably more a humble 2a since it’d be refinements rooted in my 2022 and 2024 #conceptart, and I’d stick w/ the Commanders name? idk.

On a state-level, i still have heart for these concept sketches for Illinois, Michigan, and Utah. Honors the previous designs, just some simplification and editing.

#sketchbook: Did some more work to tame this beast over a rainy long weekend. Back to seeing it as a shoulder patch instead of a chest piece. Really like using the Utah outline as a container shape. #nhl #conceptart

#sketchbook: I dig Upstate’s new logo and love the use of the SC state outline for the Spartan helmet; picked up on that detail before reading the marketing. I do think using the full Savannah River pulls some needed color to the upstate and adds speed w/out speed lines tho.

#sketchbook: Had some time between projects to further sketch out the #TusksUp Utah Mammoth shoulder patch edit I mentioned the other day:
✅ Let the state outline say "UTAH"
✅ Use the tusks to make a unique "U"
✅ The tusks are turned upward
✅ Keep it simple as to not upstage

...and going back through all those Utah Mammoth sketches, I still think this (never mind the color) could end up pretty metal. Prob too detailed, surreal for a pro league, and 3/4 views can be problematic, but I still ❤️ this beast.
