This sums it up, very well put. I got the feeling after the first listen that something was being held back.. The music is good, the voice itself is good.. just, feels like they played it very VERY safe.

But maybe that's the purpose, with all the other cross-over stuff and potential new audiences?

Seeing a lot of takes on DK Bananza's music theme being "anime opening coded"- I can see that, but def got a way heavier Disney/Pixar vibe. Like the tune just sounds like a song from Frozen or something.

The whole thing is starting to give me Wreck-It Ralph vibes in general lol. Anyone else?

Love these guys from DR Ch.3. They play the sax, make sax noises when you talk to 'em, and even have shadow in their name- they were made for me! Though I wouldn't look near as dapper in a pinstripe suit and fedora.

Will have to look that one up! I just got to the dark sanctuary last night and stopped right there, so I'm not familiar with the tunes from there onward yet- but will keep a mental note for that tune!

Toby Fox might just be king of the earworms- so many catchy tunes in Deltarune ch 3 and 4... Super busy lately but I may have to force some time in to do an arrangement of a song or two~

Don't have a Switch 2 yet, but the Jazz/Big Band/Ska remixes of old Mario tunes in MK World friggin' SLAP. Holy cow was I not ready for how hard that soundtrack goes.

And now a SH1 remake in the works?! What a time to be alive... Now I just need like, a Sonic Frontiers 2 and a new Pikmin announced and my head might actually explode.

Had a convo with a colleague today about the power of melodies in music. She said that above all else, what gives a tune power and longevity is if it gets stuck in the listener's head.

Jungle Joyride is like the only Werehog level I can get S rank on lol. I'm gonna attribute it to having GOAT'd af music.

Wild to me that MKII has like 1K more views than Metal- I don't know if that's cause there's more MKII fans than I realized or what. But Mecha MKI is also out-pacing Metal in views/listens.

I just assumed the Metal Variant would be the default most listened to, because, ya know, Metal. 🤷
