Independence debate boils down to;
Voters have no appetite for Indy
Failing public services/cost of living crisis
Get on with the day job
WM has said NO, so what are YOU going to do? (no reflection on OUR democratic rights)
Indyref in 2014 was once in a generation.
I think that nails it๐

You have the power to ensure that if this result was to happen Scotland would be well clear of this toxic union. Donโt let them impose another government we did not vote for. Vote SNP in May โ26.

Ultimately we all want the same thing.
IMO an Indy majority in HR26 is likely based on SNP/Green MSPs.
SNP1/2 is valid in areas where SNP candidates are not likely to win the constituency vote eg borders & H&I.
Otherwise SNP1/Green2 is valid if you want to max Indy rep at HR.
You are correct; itโs a tough ask for an SNP majority.
That said, the unionist vote will be split 3 ways & that is of help. Also, momentum will build for an indyref towards HR26 & who knows what the polling will be next May.
Yes, itโs a gamble but the status quo is not sustainable.
Election candidate Hannah Mary Goodlad has secured support from the SNP for a motion to reserve cabin and vehicle space for Shetland residents on the Aberdeen-Lerwick ferry route.

Me: (political editor of the Times newspaper) The government has completely changed its justification for this highly dubious and obviously crooked scheme. How will that work out for them? Stay tuned to find out
14.10.2025 10:37 โ ๐ 237 ๐ 50 ๐ฌ 20 ๐ 2By maintaining the pressure on WM, support for an indyref will grow even more in Scotland & WMโs position will become untenable.
We shouldnโt be saying โwhat will the SNP doโ but โWM doesnโt support democracyโ. If you believe in democracy then just saying โNoโ is not sustainable. This is how we win.
We need to max the โantidemocraticโ message (on the build-up to HR26) in the event WM will say โNoโ to an indyref.
The pressure should be firmly on WM if the SNP gain a majority; in no way should this be turned round to โwhat will the SNP do?โ as there is no legal route for SGov to break the impasse
Quite a bodying, here, for the UK, from the Commissioner for Human Rights, Council of Europe.
๐ฎ He points out the Supreme Court ignored human rights (which breaches its legal obligations)
๐ฎ He says, in effect agreeing with Lucy Powell, Parliament should be involved...

"Britainโs departure from the EU in the time of Trump, and Britainโs consequent unqualified dependence on the United States in an era when the US is heading straight down the road to institutional racism and neo-fascism, is an unmitigated clusterfuck bar none."

Whilst highlighting the โundemocraticโ posture of WM to date on refusing an indyref.
Do we live in a democracy or not? This is a question WM must be forced to answer.
WM constantly saying no (undemocratic) is hard to combat.
There is no legal constitutional route for Scotland to leave the union.
Only way is to keep the pressure on WM & hope the undemocratic message hits home with the electorate.
Thx for the chat.
I get your frustration.
That said itโs important there is an Indy majority in HR next year for the following reasons;
1) to keep pressure on WM wrt being undemocratic and
2) there are many people who rely on SGovโs mitigation measures of WM policies; the unionists will change that.
Thx for the chat.
If enough people want independence, then it will happen.
How do we show this desire? Via the ballot box.
A pro-indy vote at HR26 will force WM to say No to an indyref which is wholly undemocratic and that is their weak point.
They canโt keep stalling; support for Indy will only grow further.
