Great opinion piece. The government stipend will seem nice for people in the immediate, but when they end up with a bill for $30,000 for an unexpected hospital stay and no insurance, the shallowness of that distribution will be revealed.

Opinion | Trump’s new plan for Obamacare leaves Americans to fend for themselves We finally know what β€œconcepts of a plan” looks like – and it’s not good.

Here is my latest for @msnbc.com, on Trump's ill-advised concept of a plan for health care, which entails repealing the ACA, and redistributing private insurers' tax breaks to the people for what would essentially amount to an HSA, which is unhelpful if not wealthy. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

Republicans have talked about having the concept of a healthcare plan to replace the ACA for a decade, but sure, this time they *really really* mean it.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.

I want to believe higher utilization of CGM amongst the non-diabetic population will improve time-to-diagnosis of diabetes and reduce long term complications, but I suspect the affluent β€œwellness” population is not the population at risk of undiagnosed diabetes and associated complications, right?

While you’re here, food insecurity is a real threat as SNAP benefits expire in the next 24 hours. Consider donating food items or monetarily to your local food pantries to help your neighbors keep food on their tables. I am based in Connecticut: www.ctfoodshare.org

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

I can’t help but think of the absolute cowardice of the private sector, pharma and biotech in particular, who for decades have profited off of relationships with the public sector. Now that civil servants like those at the CDC are being fired en masse, the private sector is no where to be found.

RFK Jr. also falsely claims that with the government shutdown:

β€œDemocrats want to hurt hospitals and clinics in vulnerable communities by repeal of $50B in rural health care funding”.

He omits the fact that the β€œOne Big Beautiful Bill” cuts $187B and that rural health clinics are already closing.

The label of a drug is close to a sacrosanct document. It represents the trust between the government and the user of the drug that the drug is safe and effective and that all risks and benefits are accurately outlined. Changing it to suit a political agenda is imo an earthshaking matter

Even before Trump, preterm births and low birthweight births are more prevalent under GOP presidencies than Dem presidencies.

The negative association between Republican presidencies & infant health is especially pronounced for Black babies.

Gupta: It is safe. That’s what the best-quality research shows. And how irresponsible, using the podium of the WH to put this out there when you’re not even offering an alternative. That is dangerous. An untreated fever is dangerous. Untreated pain in pregnancy is dangerous.
