Gru has given up 7-10 more goals than the average NHl back up goalie as you can see.
If you take away those goals from our defensive totals, we move up to mid tier.
So, if we had an average backup goalie, we would be contending for a playoff spot. Not terrible. Not great.

Go to Money Puck or Evolving Hockey or the NHL analytic site of your choice. Look up what an average backup goalie does and compare to Grubauer. Prorate that for as many games as Grubauer played. Subtract the goal differential as a starting point. Then place that in the current Kraken stats.

You keep forgetting to remove Gru from the stats. I have only said this like six times.

You are talking about the bigger picture, long-term goals. Great. We all want a top-tier team.
However, I am explaining to you we have an AVERAGE defense without Gru. Average. Not bad. Not good. Middle. You keep saying “bad” or “terrible” which the numbers do not back up.

No. You do not understand my position at all. Look the at analytics and take Gru out of it. If you replace him with an average back-up we have an average defense. (Not a good defense). We would also have 3-4 more wins.
If you don’t understand how that works then I don’t know what to tell you.

We are not engaging in a circular argument because what you’re saying isn’t true. We have a statistically average defense with an adequate back-up goalie. You may not like the scheme, but statistically (without a terrible back up) it’s in the middle. Could it be improved? Of course.

If we had an average back- up goalie we would be a playoff team. So not terrible.
Also, what you are saying is that Daccord can handle the defense in front of him just fine and Gru cannot. Which is why he was released.
Let me put it this way: what would our record be if Daccord was the only goalie?

Except that Daccord’s numbers are in the top 8 in the NHL. And they play with literally the same players.

I know I am right because the numbers back me up.You must not pay very close to attention to the analytic and salary cap sites. We are hamstrung by players underperforming their contracts. (Especially Gru, one of the worst goalies in the league). Go look at Evolving Hockey and Money Puck etc. Enjoy!

It’s not a one year problem when you have (and have had) multiple bad contracts that limit flexibility. Gru’s was bad from the beginning and still on the books through next year. Beniers is not earning his money and there are multiple years left. And we overpaid for Stephenson as well.

Centrists don’t exist. We have a left and a right that manipulates the uneducated.

The looked dead for the first two periods, the Sharks pushed us around, we have a real problem with both of our goalies, and Francis built a team that isn’t good (but costs a lot). Terrible all around.

I would be appreciate it if they could help me blackout the game as well.
