Re-reading 1984 for a conference we are hosting about CHILDREN OF MEN @dartmouthartsci.bsky.social this winter. I remember arriving at Orwell's date in my youth. Planning for the arrival of Cuarón's in 2027. Book will accompany it.

The characterization of arrests on May 1st was about 'safety and security" and protecting "free expression" was opposed by over half the college faculty who voted to censure her for colluding with law enforcement to arrest and brutalize her own faculty and students.

Our President's contention that we "teach them how to think, not what to think" on #NPR is a misrepresentation of what we do as professors. At least in my discipline of History, we interpret evidence, which is BOTH "how" and "what." There is a cult of objectivity in her "idea" that isn't helpful.
