Hades 1 characters and interpersonal storylines were just so much better. I was invested in everyone. While the gameplay of 2 is better than 1, the characters just don't hit the same.

Also they didn't have a scene with Hermes and Charon in the same room, so that's -1.5 off the score on its own.

Welp. Finally beat 32 fear, all the rival bosses, re-finished the story for the new ending, got to the epilogue, got everyone's romance scene and Hecate's secret with 100 hours in the game...

And this particular fic is super well regarded too. I've long since understood that I'm the pickiest motherfucker when it comes to characters not being OOC in fic but sometimes it really slaps me in the face HOW anal retentive I am about it.

Sometimes characterization can be so offbase but the fic itself is so interesting and good despite it that I just pretend I'm not reading fic anymore and these characters are just named the same as my blorbos. Jayce would never say that, but this person's OC also named Jayce probably would.

Canonically, that man sassed Jayce in their first meeting and then tracked him down like a dog to a deer in their second. He's got the confidence or at least knows how to act it.

Man, I love that charmes is this background relationship you have to unravel in the Hades games. Nothing is directly stated, but by paying attention and piecing together clues from various dialogue lines, you too can learn that Charon and Hermes are Not Normal about each other.

Hades 2 is not dissuading my read that Hephaestus isn't sharing Aphrodite with Ares. Aphrodite and Hephaestus are sharing Ares.

My favorite godly quartet is Zeus (chain lightning), Hera (damage buffs and making common boons not), Demeter (freeze, upgrading boons, and gust on cast), and Aphrodite (the GOAT. My girl. She give me big big damage and dodge and curses and weak and charm and health and you cant go wrong with love)

The best build in Hades 2 is any of them with 50% dodge because Hermes, Aphrodite, and Gale are hard carrying me through a run and I took zero damage from Typhon.
