there's a different hux character for every writer who takes them on. for the LoV team, i think their narrative would have been richer if they had actually let kylo and hux act as close in rank as they were. isolated, men of similar age, similar leadership demands. soule's vision didn't work for me

i don't disagree with you. i do think these writers didn't hold that complexity very well, though. i think they saw more angst in him than actual conflict, and i think they did him a dis-service

disjointed is a great word. knights of tava ren unite! i’m also okay with murder baby kylo, i just didn’t really grasp that the writers grasped the purpose. he’s not a machine, if x then y, and he is affected by what he does. even if it’s more anger at himself or withdrawing. & that was missing too!

even hux had the teeth taken out of him in a way that just didn’t work for me. in canon he’s very snappy, very fiery, not afraid to go toe to toe even with the supreme leader. to see kylo cowing him and the writers not letting him talk back felt like a lost opportunity for a peer-to-peer dynamic

however. we need to talk about tava ren. what a powerhouse. she was a real high point that made the rest of the series really pale in comparison. she actually was a force to be reckoned with, instead of the way the writers wrote everyone else as sycophants

every time he did something mildly interesting, it had a way of getting ret-conned. ex. supporting the resistance on naboo and then…killing them? he left quite the body count. and the coldness didn’t ring true to me

okayyyy so i finally read legacy of vader last night. i did not like it as much as rise of kylo ren. i also did not feel the creators gave kylo much complexity or depth, so much as they just ran the same tape over and over?

Don't force yourself into creating when your body and mind tells you otherwise. It's okay to take a break. This burning urge to constantly create had become normal to me, and now that I cannot I am very close to feeling like a failure. But it's okay, and even necessary.
