A musical existing in the (stylistic, but also personnel) overlap between Shin-chan and Windy Tales is the type of project that Shin-Ei keeps quietly putting out. Toritsukare Otoko is one of those movies they put out every year or two lately, in addition to their already interesting franchise output

it's still more charismatic than your average anime at the very least, though I feel like way more of that charisma would shine through if it didn't look so damn wonky half the time. at least seems like it will pick up the pace a bit now, so that's good

not hating lazarus or anything but it's still kind of a bizarre anime tbh. feels like it really wants to be a plot-driven show at its core but is instead forced into a watanabe-style episodic format resulting in a show where nothing ever really happens

New CITY key visual is unlike standard anime promo art, with a fun isometric look at the connected place & inhabitants the series is about. What's crazier is how hard they went on the analog angle art though - who the hell goes for a massive watercolor painting where you can even see the paper fold

anyway, I think I'm gonna slowly get into it and then hardcore grind during summer vacay and then see where I'm at. feels like the biggest hurdle is the start when you don't really know what you're doing yet. once you can actually see yourself making some progress it probably gets way easier

thing is that complaining about fan translated content is about the most entitled thing you can do as a human, feels like the only proper response is to pick up the language yourself so you don't have to worry about that stuff anymore

I had a similarly strong feeling a few weeks ago when is was reading bambi (also by kaneko) and had a good time with it until I had to switch to the less than ideal scanlation which completely ruined my vibe

atsushi kaneko's current manga 'EVOL' is apparently ending soon so I think I'll use this opportunity to hop on. the scanlation is unfortunately way behind though which kinda sucks. it's stuff like this that really makes me consider to give learning japanese a serious shot

rolled credits in blue prince and just like with animal well last year "beating" the game only feels like you peeled back the first layer of many. the ending is quite satisfying and got me in the feels a lil but there are still SO many questions left unanswered. how deep does the rabbit hole go....
