It is so damning of US news media that so many outlets refuse to just straight up say that Senator Tim Sheehy assaulted an activist.

He did not "help" Capitol police. They did not need his help. He wanted to assault the guy and did. He should resign.

This is what weak and insecure people think confidence looks like: buffoonish bluster and swagger, like a 12-year-old bully. It doesn‘t inspire trust or security. It inspires grave concern for the lives of the people serving our nation whose fate is in the hands of these overcompensating oafs.

Even putting aside the chaotic, almost apathetic communications effort the Trump Administration has made, the fundamental problem here is a trust deficit. A lot of Americans simply don't trust Trump to make war/peace, life/death decisions, period, no matter who the enemy is.

They simply don't believe he has the capacity to comprehend the issues involved, the ethics to refrain from personal profit, the temperament to make real commitments, or the moral framework to care about the consequences - regardless what else might be at stake. I know I don't think he does.

But profits (aka loot) for Trump personally or the regime he heads.

Because they think they are playing a video game. Morally, they see no difference.

There are much bigger issues at stake here than making anyone “look bad”. Sad this Administration can’t comprehend this.

Honestly this is the biggest perk of serving in Congress. Most people have to ask forgiveness and wonder. If you're in Congress you get a same day answer from the big guy.
