A bit gutted I was wasn’t there but was at Gillian Welch/David Rawlings in Mcr last night, or otherwise would have tried to get a ticket.
Only ever saw them once in 1982 on a bill with ACR. They were great but kind of wished I’d waited a year as “The Crackdown” feels like their high point for me.

Just been to see Gillian Welch & David Rawlings at Manchester Apollo. Spellbinding stuff. Perfect sound, flawless playing and where to start with that voice.
Plus a cover of “White Rabbit” to end the show. Was not expecting that.

The other covers they did were fantastic. Love their version of “Ticket to Ride”.

Would have been great I’m sure but not sure it would have had the same impact. His book is a great read, if a tad graphic at times.

First song for me too . Must have been Peel in 1984. Think Bob cites his childhood love of The Byrds in the early chapters of his autobiography.

When he writes songs as good as “Carousel”, I’d just be hoping for a John Head solo LP.

Robert Forster and his amazing Swedish band were ridiculously good in Leicester last night. Only downer was missing the four song encore to catch our train back to Sheffield. The encore which of course included “Tender Years”, the one song I really wanted to hear with the full band. Ah, never mind.

The Weather Prophets/Primal Scream/The Bodines/Meat Whiplash - Hammersmith Clarendon.

One of the first WP shows? Primal Scream did 6 songs in 15 minutes. The Bodines had a clutch of fine tunes that never really made the transition to record. Meat Whiplash had “Don’t Slip Up”.

There was both in great quantities

Aw. Just home from seeing Robert Forster in Leicester. Dog left me a welcome pack on the kitchen floor as a dirty protest for me not getting her a ticket.
