the saddle region between Mawrth Vallis and Oyama Crater is a charismatic little spot to put a city, I think

Unfortunately, despite the size of the Vallis, it has almost no connecting tributaries. But its so damn wide that its kinda like the Chesapeake Bay: really navigable and well protected, with direct access to the global seaways.

Depending on the storm conditions in the Chryse Gulf and the Boreal Ocean, you might be better off heading upstream to 22.5°N 15°W where there's a crater right in the bend of the valley. That'd make a nice protected harbor.
