There Is No Housing Affordability Without Building More Housing If we make it easier to build dense housing in cities, then the resulting supply boost will ease the cost burden on renters and put homeownership within closer reach for millions of households.

Every couple of months or so, someone puts out a piece of bad social science meant to undermine the case for more housing. For Roosevelt Institute, I wrote a blog post responding to the two most recent specimens. rooseveltinstitute.org/blog/there-i...

It is so damning of US news media that so many outlets refuse to just straight up say that Senator Tim Sheehy assaulted an activist.

He did not "help" Capitol police. They did not need his help. He wanted to assault the guy and did. He should resign.

just a randomly prediction, i think people are sleeping on the virality and durability of the "tim sheehy breaks the marine protester's arm" story in the coming days and weeks

US Senate vote fails to rein in Trump war powers on Iran The measure, passed largely along party lines, would halt US military action until approved by Congress.

i suppose the only way for Americans to learn how the United States Senate works was to watch Republicans who have a structural vice lock on the chamber destroy the planet

anyway, lesson learned i guess? you can have freedom and democracy, or a US Senate, but not both www.bbc.com/news/article...

I am flushed with pride that somebody featured in one of my Philly Phlush stories bought a high-quality print of the story from our website, got a nice frame for it, and hung it in their bathroom.

Folks, urine in luck because I will be taking all of your puns about this today. Pees and thank you.

Republicans control the Congress and can stop any of this on any day of the week.

They don't do that though, because Trump is the apotheosis of modern Republicanism.

Fair and through evaluation of how far SEPTA has come in just a few years in terms of new user experience. Rolling out more concourse maps and using more obvious transfer signage at 15th/City Hall would go a long way (like the continuous color tape MTA tried)

It's a great night to consider running for office. It's still not too late in some states to get on the ballot for 2026 -- and definitely not too early for 2027 or 2028. runforwhat.net

What's scary about this story is the surveillance it hints at. This trans woman had changed her name, legally, but chose not to change her gender marker. She was apparently flagged in the DMV system as trans and her license was invalidated under a law that supposedly only concerned gender markers.

100,000 Homes: Housing the homeless saves money? Giving apartments to the chronically homeless can save taxpayer dollars, advocates say

Anderson Cooper: β€œSo it's more expensive to have a chronically homeless person living on the streets than it is to actually subsidize an apartment for them?”

Answer: β€œYes, we’re paying more as taxpayers to walk past that person on the street and do nothing.” #HousingFirst #UrbanTruth

'Milky white' substance spotted in Goose Creek; West Goshen residents and pets advised to stay out The Department of Environmental Protection is investigating what was discharged, how much of it entered Goose Creek, and what public health measures must be taken.

A Chester County business could face fines after officials said it was the source of a "milky white discharge" that polluted a West Goshen Township creek.

Brooklyn Public Library ends passport services after State Department order β€’ Brooklyn Paper Last fall, the U.S. Department of State sent cease-and-desist letters to hundreds of nonprofit libraries across the country, telling them they were no longer

Banning books wasn’t enough for Trump. Now he’s coming for public libraries.

For decades, public libraries in communities all across the country – like our own beloved Brooklyn Public Library – have been providing passport application services.

At least a few folks have been a bit confused by the image we used for this ad. One thought it was β€œluxury housing.” To be clear, this is public/social/supportive housing in downtown Vancouver. To their credit, BC Housing hires good architects who do very good designs for public housing. #UrbanTruth
