Now that I live in the Netherlands, I occasionally come across these Stolpersteine ("stumbling block") memorials installed on sidewalks outside of the homes of people who were victims of the Holocaust.

Every time I see one, I think of what's happening back home.

Yes. I have no desire to read the emails, to hear about who is sweating under the pressure, who is being strong-armed into what, etc, etc. I want to hear about consequences, full stop. Those girls, now women, deserve justice. Those perpetrators deserve to be brought to justice.

Limburg demands answers over U.S. whitewashing of Black history at WWII cemetery The province of Limburg has asked the American ambassador to the Netherlands to replace the information panels about Black soldiers in the visitors center of the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margr...

The Heritage Foundation strikes again, removing a memorial to the men who built this cemetery.

The African American 960th Quartermaster Corps used picks and shovels to dig graves in muddy and frozen ground. They couldn't have sat with the men they buried, but they could lay them to rest.

The editors went to great lengths to seek out and represent a wide array of groups. Here's a selection.

Lol, I just wish we'd gone through our stuff sooner, whether we were moving or not. There was no reason for us to have so much *~miscellany~*

But in sincerity, the system of questions I developed for the move was something like:

Is this item necessary? Is it replacable? *Will* I replace it?

"Would I want to move this item across an ocean?" is a fun way to decide what you really want to keep.

Well, maybe not a fun way, but an effective way.

Fascinating. I was just telling Rachel that a lot of my sense of self is external, so being able to see things I've collected in a space that I've decorated is, like, really essential for my personality to boot up.

So, I was wondering about the brains of people who prefer more minimalist spaces.

Regular people (without a lingerie screenprinting budget) have to make do with adding their own nudes as their phone lockscreen/wallpaper.

Yes! People want representatives with a spine! Voters were abundantly clear on the matter. This most recent disappointment confirms (for the 100^10th time) that establishment dems *do not get their power from the people.*

Over a picture, text reads, "Mentally I'm at the sun room of a 1990s Wendy's" and inside the picture of the sunroom, I've inserted my own face in several odd places, floating about.

And I'm eating chicken nuggets with the GOOD discontinued bbq sauce.

The most beautiful waitress - take the New York State Restauraunt Association's word for it - goes for hot dogs in a bug way. Marietta Ronchetti, 20, demonstrates her fondness for the famed Frankston a dime each at the World's Fair of 1940 in New York. Miss Ronchetti was named the state's tops in serving pulchritude in connection with national restaurant week. She visited the fair, opening May 11, to signalize the low-price food policy that characterizes the big show this season.

I need to keep reminding myself, books are in my bones.

Books built me. They are my past.
Books keep me alive. They are my present.
Books will be my future.

Book events have gotten me out of the house *thrice* in the midst of my moving-to-a-new-continent-under-extreme-duress depressive state. As I struggle to find my footing, I've never felt more like my future is what I make of it. And as I feel dizzy, as I feel directionless, as I feel useless...

I spent eight years working at universities, which meant having access to ✨️university libraries✨️. Later, I worked at a library, which was my favorite job to date. When I go on vacation, libraries, bookstores, and (if I'm lucky) book arts centers of some kind, are always on the itinerary.

After the talk, I wanted to look at more of my own books and their spines. I went through the remainder of my book collection (post-move). And I searched my phone for photos of books. The phone search reminded me that I have spent a lot of time, not just reading books, but with books as *objects* πŸ’–

I went to an exhibit opening and talk on book spine design (!).

This is the printed handout that accompanied the show.

[Little Miss and Mr. Men books were in the exhibit because the newer editions would form a design on the spines when shelved together. Most of mine are older editions, tho.]
