We did it. We launched our album last night and it was MAGICAL. Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen, getting to perform for hundreds of people and show them what we've worked so hard on was such an incredible and intense experience. This project has made me fall back in love with poetry.

Libraries can also offer help finding resources. You are not alone, and you are worthy of help and support. π

Thinking of those for whom this time of year is difficult, unsafe, or demoralising. Domestic abuse rates rise around the holidays, and it can feel impossible to cope, particularly when you can't be honest about what you're experiencing, and there's an added expectation of joy.

Tonight we mourn those who we've lost, and reflect on the changes we must make to improve outcomes for survivors. We must seek justice, a shift in societal attitudes, and look beyond empty words to true allyship.

Leaving an abusive situation doesn't automatically leave the effects of the abuse behind. We need to stop assuming those who leave do so because solely because they are "strong", and instead recognise the role that support can and does play in both leaving abusive situations, and long-term survival.

The leading cause of death for those who have experienced abuse is suicide, an average of two women a week are killed by a current or former partner.
