I actually don’t think we should victim blame protestors for what the feds are going to do. We’ve seen them do it to perfectly peaceful protestors.

People need to be wise, use discretion, and center those most impacted, and I truly detest this rhetoric.

Putting aside the researchers' inability to identify acts of state terrorism, the number they're using to justify this subhed is five.

I had a couple quibbles with what they coded “left-wing” but ultimately the study does touch on something real: we’ve seen a little bit more violence from the left side of the pitch lately (the previous stats were near zero, though, so anything is an “increase”).

The way terrorism is defined is a high bar (and it should be, given the legal implications). But it ends up excluding so much from the picture that I’d consider it a big mistake to think it reflects much on the state of this country’s political violence problem overall.
