CO snowpack is the lowest on record. Granted the record is only my lifetime, but still. I was fortunate to work on climate change risk algorithms, and unfortunately, it became too hard on my mental health to keep staring at the data. Then winters like this don’t help. I’m a real bummer at parties.

Call me a climate alarmist, but it’s December in Colorado and my tulips are coming up and we’re hiking at 9,000 feet with no snow. My family has been here for over 100 years and never seen a winter like this.

I love this time of year, reminding me that even the earth must rest. I think a solstice nap is in order.

So frustrated that Xcel’s response to high winds is just “turn the power off.”After more than $1B in annual profits for five straight years, the lack of meaningful infrastructure is inexcusable. Especially after the Marshall Fire.

I adore my inherited Christmas decorations. Every single one carries a little bit of family history. These satin push-pin ornaments were the ones my grandpa picked up for my grandma on every work trip to San Francisco. Always from her favorite artist. Handmade. One of a kind. A memory.
