I’m finally home. My brain is mush.

I got picked for a jury so I’m not off the hook yet. But it’ll only be this week.

Well so far this isn’t so bad. I’ve got a table to sit and do my sticker books at, with huge windows with a street view and a big ol tree looking over my shoulder. I could think of worse places to spend a few hours.

My issue isn’t with pits necessarily it’s the type of people that get them as a status symbol and then don’t train them. These people just moved in, it’s a rental and the last people that lived there also had a pit, plus 2 other big dogs. They all constantly barked at us for being in our yard.

Oh great, the new neighbors have Shit Bulls that bark constantly. 🙄

The thought of being put under terrifies me. When I had my wisdom teeth out I opted for local anesthesia vs being completely knocked out and I was grateful I had that option.

There’s so many factors and a lot of them are out of your control. I don’t usually bother with these but my husband’s grandma invited me to share a table with her. She seemed to be having better luck but she knows a lot of people there and she had peanut brittle samples. lol

I look at it this way - the table was shared so I didn’t have to pay anything to try. I went in with low expectations and when they were met I bounced. And now I know for next time if it’s worth preparing stuff for or not.

My house is going to be covered in suncatchers though. lol

Fwiw I did get some compliments. There was just a LOT of things to look at there. Most people seemed to be more browsing.

It’s okay, I wasn’t expecting anything really. Suncatchers are very much a side hobby so I’m not as invested.

Well, 3 and a half hours and I’ve made $5.
I think I’m gonna give it til noon and then go home. I’d rather veg out on my game than sit here for another 6 hours doing nothing and making nothing. Not bitter, just bored.
Furries have me spoiled I guess.

Yeah I’ve heard that’s another thing that is taking over. I haven’t seen any here but I also haven’t been to all the tables.

Up at the buttcrack of dawn to do this craft fair thing. My display is horribly naked I know, but it’s all I’ve got.
I took a quick look around and hoo boy is there a lot of AI stuff here. There are some with handmade art though, if I buy anything it’ll be from them.

Well that’s reassuring I guess. lol I feel like furries are better at appreciating art and other hand made items, so pricing up makes sense in those circles. But these are normies and I have no clue what to aim for with them. I’ll scope things out when we set up tonight.

To give an idea of what they look like:

I sorta showed my Patrons how I did it, they get all the wips and technique breakdowns, and see the full pieces first.
I promise I’m not trying to advertise at you, that’s just where I stash all the goodies. 😅

I usually keep them between $5 and $20 depending on how big and fancy they are, but now I’m worried $20 will be too much and nobody will buy anything. I also have a really bare bones setup without all my art, so I’m worried my table will look empty and people will ignore it.

Packing stuff up to set up my table at this craft fair I’m doing tomorrow and it’s probably just because it’s the last minute but I’m really second guessing my pricing. 😩
I’m only selling suncatchers, no art, and I have no idea where I should price things for the general public.

Not sure what use a large following is if your posts are constantly getting throttled because you dared to try and advertise your work. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Most social media sites are like that to a degree. It’s why I like it here, because we don’t get punished for promoting ourselves.

The second Elon took over should have been the sign to start packing. It only got worse after that and why anyone stays despite his awful connections is beyond me.

I never used this dumpster fire of a website anyway and I’m glad. Everyone needs to just come over here and help make Bluesky the best place to be an artist online.

It still is all those things. I know it had its fair share of drama in the past and a lot of people left because of it, but no other site ever came close to giving the fandom a space like that.

That’s how it is for me too, it’s still my main gallery but if I relied solely on FA to fill slots I’d be in trouble.
It’s little to do with quality of your work and all how you can work an algorithm or compete for everyone’s fried attention span. I’m exhausted.

Feeling nostalgic for the days when everyone was on Furaffinity. I was still fairly new but I built an audience so fast because all I had to do was post consistently. Which was easy because I always had commissions to turn in.

Now I’m lucky if anything gets past 500 views over there. 😮‍💨
