My ICQ UIN is 7231680. That number is burned into my consciousness. I inadvertently learned that you could see private conversations in public chat rooms when using Telnet instead of a browser on GeoCities. I can tell you the difference in audible dial-up handshakes between 1200, 2400, 14.4 kbps modems. I needed a edu email address to join Facebook after my university was admitted. We were here at the beginning. We made social media. You wouldn't be in my Top 8. I have usernames older than you.

There's a ton of talk about how CENTCOM is pushing this because of memories of Iranian intervention in Iraq in the 2000s. I might just be a simple country lawyer, but I had long presumed that the purpose of a professional military was to *not* engage in gangbanger bullshit.

Years ago my team at CNA did a review of the US use of proxies.

A pertinent finding: “Policymakers & the US military should restrict the use of proxies to irregular warfare activities against states or other nonstate armed groups & avoid any temptations to use them as surrogate conventional armies”

Not a lawyer, but it seems like Hegseth's explicit order to relax rules of engagement, thereby deliberately endangering civilians, would make this a war crime for which he is responsible. He should he prosecuted as a monstrous war criminal at the earliest opportunity. His order killed 165 children.

Losses are to be expected, but i don't think the US has enough C-UAS assets in theater. For a long time now, there has been a particular lack of passive defense planning by the US for its IAMD assets. I can't say this loss was totally unexpected, it was eventually bound to happen.

Probably first major US loss of the conflict when it comes to ballistic missile defense. One of TPY-2 radars belonging to the THAAD battery deployed to Muwaffaq Salti Airbase in Jordan seems to have been struck. The full radar set goes over $200M.

There is a very funny juxtaposition of a lot of Certs having comparatively small guns because they have to get in and out of vehicles and then a Gennie built like a twig with an M1 Garand

That goes for Americans who oppose this war as well as those who back it. A lot of quick judgements being made on day 5 about the impact hugely destabilising use of US airpower will be when in reality the wider effects will play out over months and years after Trump declares victory and walks away

I hate how funny he is when he displays his obvious and correct contempt for us, the American people.

"Yeah, somebody's probably going to blow himself up at an airport or w/e. I don't really care. If you guys didn't deserve it, you wouldn't have elected me and the security for my plane is great."

This stupid fucking meme has got body shape exactly backwards. Half the fuckin population had just spent the better part of a decade being extra malnourished in the 40s while today even pogs get addicted to lifting and creatine

There's a lot of reasons why you don't want to be the guy firing bespoke interceptors at one-way attack drones because eventually you're gonna run out of stuff to steal from INDOPACOM

like the most basic takeaway from Russia's strategic bombing campaign should probably be that you should have a high/low mixture of air defense assets because your enemy is going to have a high/low mixture of strike weapons

It's honestly so fucking funny how much American commentary from super serious™ natsec types was "bro we wouldn't do it like this, there's no *real* lessons to learn here"

This actually isn’t surprising in the slightest from an American POV. The only people trying to actually learn from this war are like Mike kofman, Rob Lee, 4 rando freelancers, and 7 people on here

"We're fighting to win the war"

We are a week in and absolutely nobody has any idea what the political aim we're attempting to achieve is. Win what? Literally what are we fighting to achieve at the moment.

I have absolutely no idea atm if we are close to winning because I have no idea what we want

This is not getting picked up in western media but it's an insane story. Oschadbank is a Ukrainian state bank, and Hungary has detained it's employees and millions of dollars in cash and gold on the way from Austria to Ukraine.

Like what the fuck?!

⚡️🇺🇦🇭🇺 Oschadbank announces the theft of its employees, collection vehicles and valuables in Hungary.

Two vehicles of collection service, 7 employees of the team, were unjustifiably detained in Hungary while carrying out a regular transportation between Raiffeisen Bank Austria and Oschadbank.

Everyone knows that only Americans can commit war crimes, which by the way, they committed another one when the nazi crew of the tank bailed out and they gunned them down

It's the intentionality that matters because Israeli/Russian double taps are done on civilian targets that they know are civilian targets with the expectation that first responders will arrive so the delay between strikes is intentional rather than the result of transit time

06.03.2026 00:07 — 👍 40    🔁 7    💬 0    📌 0

no no no no no

"Double tap" is a very specific thing that basically only the Israelis and Russians do that this website has since decided should refer to any strike where you hit a target more than once, for any reason
