The writing has been on the wall for many of these establishments for some time.

The reality is very different. At worst, VAT on fees has maybe brought the closure forward by 1, maybe 2 years. We have been struggling for years, had several staffing restructures, not replaced staff who have left, let infrastructure and systems crumble and become even more expensive to repair.

Cricket here is by far the best of the sport that I follow, followed closely by football (American), then football (soccer) - which is actually still pretty terrible on here for me at least. I think I get better coverage of tennis, which I don't actively follow 😆

Also dropped a tricky catch fielding at short mid-wicket that was hit high, over my right shoulder to short mid-on. Finger tips on it and down. 🤷‍♂️

Game #2. 3rd XI Vs Gilberdyke 2nd XI.

A 30 run win where I got a second ball duck at no. 10 to a slightly suspect run-out call. Apparently I looked well in, but I forgot to ground my bat - rookies will rookie I guess.

Good news. I interviewed for a new position last Monday and got the job! I start sometime in September as I am helping the administrators deal with, amongst other things, exams results, which they have no experience with. #newJob #redundancy #jobSearch

I'm definitely not quick, so I'm not sure how much bowling I'll get. I was just happy to be able to stop a boundary or two.

My son, on the other hand, has an amazing natural talent, he could be properly quick when he's older, still only 8.

And today I played my first game. A 3 wicket win for the 3rd XI.

I fielded at square leg, didn't bowl and wasn't required to bat. We all have to start somewhere right?
