The ASA IPM section is excited to launch our new participatory budgeting initiative where section members can propose new initiatives or projects that the full membership will then vote on. The IPM Section has dedicated $1,500 to be allocated across the proposed projects that receive the most votes by section members. You can read through the IPM Participatory Budgeting Rulebook linked here for more information about what kinds of projects qualify for funding, how the voting process will work, and the overall timeline for this funding cycle. To submit a proposal, please use the following link: IPM PB: Proposal Submission Site. The last day to submit a proposal is January 30, 2026. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Fabian Pfeffer at fabian.pfeffer@Imu.de.
Do you have a good idea of how to spend up to $1,500 to help the community of inequality researchers?
Then submit it by Jan 31 (here: forms.gle/2j6GaCwvS77B...) to be included in the new participatory budgeting process of the ASA Inequality, Poverty, and Mobility section.
@asa-ipm.bsky.social
Also, feel free to ask questions or brainstorm with me or any of the participatory budgeting committee members:
@cadigonia.bsky.social, @marissathompson.bsky.social,
@boweihu.bsky.social, Angelina Grigoryeva and Kathryn O'Neill!

Much work got done yesterday in 12 sessions and many discussions.
Today will be our experimental day, featuring a panel discussion, interactive exercise, and excursion. That is, assuming that people found their way back from the Hofbräuhaus yesterday evening! 👀

ISI has a new website.
Yes, one that works.
Yes, also on your phone.
No, we didn’t do it ourselves. We called Max from Goodaim (en.goodaim.de). He speaks both design and durkheim.
