Even if it is a good idea to preserve that tool, it's certainly does not look that way to the general public. All we see is that Democrats caved. Even if this actually was a very strategic move, again the Democrats branding and messaging is just not there.

Yes. Several analysts that I follow have been saying that this was very stage managed. They picked those senators who were either retiring or not up for election for a couple years. I'm absolutely furious that this practice is a thing. It's deceptive to voters.

Agreed. After he lost that primary he kind of took his ball and went home, taking his followers with him. So he has some blame for Trump coming to power. But he has always been steadfast in his policy positions, which is more than we can say about a lot of folks.
