In 1996, my husband (then fiance`) and I purchased a home with my VA loan. The VA made my husband get a notarized statement indicating he was definitely going to marry me. That was the only way they would approve the loan. I was teaching in Texas, I'm the one who served, but he had to ok it. 🤬
