Since the star collection and post-star collection cutscenes in Super Mario Galaxy 2 have an average length of 30 seconds and a full playthrough collects 240 stars, the player spends at least 2 hours per playthrough simply watching Mario collect stars.

Nintendo has released a new Super Mario Galaxy Movie poster featuring Tostarena from Super Mario Odyssey.
High-quality screen grabs from the movie have also been made available on Nintendo's servers.
I'm unclear on why they've done this, but my current theory is some attempt at optimization.

In the Nintendo Switch version of Super Mario Galaxy (but not Super Mario Galaxy 2), Mario and Luigi's right hands have been moved away and stored separately from their models for an unknown reason. It is theorized that this is somehow an attempt at optimization.
