I make conversation with flight attendants sometimes to calm myself down a bit, and I always ask them what the worst flight they've ever been on is like. I've gotten "near Denver" a lot -- I think it's the cold air from one side of the mountains and warm on the other that creates turbulence.

My daughter tells me planes aren't brought down by turbulence unless there's something inherently wrong with the plane. I appreciate her saying it, but I've also been a flight with all the flight attendants in their jump seats and clear blue skies as we were batted around like a toy. (Near Denver.)

The mailers we get here in Cali do emphasize the temporary nature of it. Not sure I believe them, because as long as Texas has its redistricting, Cali will have an excuse to keep theirs. But that's a conversation for 2030 or so when the census revisits it all.

I've said this about writing and art -- the goal was not to replace writers and artists with AI, the result was either:

a) *threaten* to replace them with AI, and use that as leverage to be able to pay them less

b) replace them unsuccessfully and pay them less to fix the shit the AI barfed out

To be fair, that's not the only place she bites victims...
