The base is ace! I’ve been dragging my feet on a Raspberry Pi 5 cyberdeck project. However, found a cheap used clarinet case that fit my keyboard perfectly. So far it passes Dairy Queen’s turn it upside down and not fall out test and I have the power worked out (5V, 5A)!

✨ Happy Holidays from the Stevens family and internet-connected devices.

HotSpark II is my Raspberry Pi 3B+ video host. The magic 8 ball has its own Arduino API endpoint to trigger spins. It's read via Gemma 3 from LM Studio API. #diy

You can ask: @hotsparklab.bsky.social !8ball [my question]?

Flying Jumping Spider

What's scarier than a spider? A flying spider. Jumping spiders are pretty cute though so this balances it all out. #NMS (No Man's Sky)

Recently, there have been several stick-ups and one Axe murder (in the first Degree). Management has made no Secret of the need to increase security, but still haven’t found the Right Guard. Finding themselves underarmed, the crime wave continues to roll on.

Here’s my first interlocking 3D print design. I learned a bit about overhang, fragile joints, and well, measuring. I have a great update printing soon.

Raspberry Pi RFID boombox

Raspberry Pi RFID boombox

I finished my daughter's Raspberry Pi RFID boombox project (a while ago, time flies). She loves it, and it helped me upgrade battery knowledge and a bit of 3D enclosure design. It makes use of a Pimoroni Pirate Audio board to manage sound and a cheap RFID reader. Code available if there's interest.

This looks great!! 😍

May I ask, what type of hinge are you using? I have a cyberdeck project hitting this year (currently a few loose pieces connected together, no useful keyboard yet either). I’m betting those have some torque to them?

Boombox front with Raspberry Pi 2 W, Pirate Audio, 2” speakers, RFID reader and potentiometer

The front plate of my mini RFID-triggered boombox is all hooked up! Working out the measurements in Blender was new yet I’m getting there. Sadly, I broke the Pirate Audio display while moving parts from the old plate to the new one (replacement in the mail). Now for the back and handle.

These 2” speakers sound pretty good when attached to a Pimoroni Pirate Audio amp/display for Raspberry Pi (2 W pictured).

Now to transform this into a tactile musical experience for my little one who is excited to explore new genres.

I put my new hdmi screen to use, on the new box computer! This still has a long way to go before it becomes a cyberdeck, yet at least the screen ribbon isn’t flying around loosely.

I tend to make heavy use of the GPIO pins in my Pi projects. I can see making one of those PCs a Steam deck or kiosk though. I hadn’t thought about using them until seeing your video (mini PCs were worse at one point).
