14.11.2025 18:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Make no mistake, we are at a series of crossroads right now and it is essential that we be deliberative, hyper attuned to consequences, and systemic in our thinking.
14.11.2025 18:01 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We know these things deep down, but AI has the power to create convincing and seductive illusions.
Itβs not real but if itβs real enough, will enough of us care enough to stop it?
And if we donβt, what does that mean for our minds, our health, our systems, our societies?
AI does a good job of impersonating things that are fundamentally not possible, and humans are suckers for rejection of the impossible.
For instance, we cannot:
- talk to our past or future selves
- reanimate the dead
- read someoneβs mind
But donβt we all, sometimes, wish to do these things?
Anyway happy Friday etc
14.11.2025 17:48 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Above all else, AI is an accelerant.
That makes it really important for us to look at the world around us right now and ask: do we want to keep doing this, but faster? If not, what are the necessary interruptions?
AI itself isnβt the problem.
The problem is the stuffing of AI into every facet of our lives, the indiscriminate wielding of it against messy human problems, the band-aiding over inherent and sometimes unsolvable complexity - and all of this with a distinct lack of interrogation into consequences.
For some context, Iβve been working through complex tensions at work this week (between opposing concerns, priorities and ideas - not people, thankfully). It made me think back to this piece I wrote a couple of years ago.
14.11.2025 17:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0βTension is just what occurs in the space between opposing forces.
Tension can create balance, or it can create stuckness. It can cultivate creativity and innovation, or it can lead us into dead ends. It can energise and invigorate, or it can cause exhaustion.β

11.11.2025 18:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0An Instagram post from by rotation titled βweβre sorryβ. The post opens βTo our community, weβre sorry, we donβt believe in consumerism. We should probably apologise for thinking you donβt need to buy a new outfit for every festive party, black-tie event, or even during the Black Friday sales.β The post continues its disingenuous apology, finishing with βWe hope you can forgive us for saving your wallet and the planet one rental at a time.β
An Instagram post from ADP List titled βOfficial apology statementβ. It opens βDear members, we owe you an apology. It seems weβve made meeting amazing mentors a little too easyβ. The post continues in this smug vein, layering its false apology with more not-so-humble brags.
Sorry can we stop with this?

07.11.2025 06:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We discuss why those of us working on design systems are so vulnerable to burning and how we can prevent it. We talk about the importance of living your values, advocating whatβs right and β crucially β knowing when to walk away.

To round off series 2 I have got the MOTHER of all guests for you: Speaker, coach, author of Technically Wrong and Design for real life, Sara Wachter-Boettcher.
