But the Trump administration changes its "mind" all the time. Scare us, stir up a fuss, get attention, then backtrack. Cross your fingers & take a few grains of salt.

Expat from Post. Still loving The Big Apple, pizza, philology, honest discourse, retirement. Not likely to follow reposts-only. Nix to dogma, attention thirst, lack of civility. Serious or silly - it's all good. Teach me something. #expostie #expostnews

16.11.2025 00:49 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I certainly agree about the NYC school education of the past. Our teachers were smart, articulate, and well-educated themselves, and they taught us more than the curricums mandated. Most of my daughter's NYC teachers unfortunately were not very interested or committed to more than a weak formula.

If you've been told from the getgo that you're not as smart, not as important, as the men around you, & intimidated into not objecting, you tell yourself you believe it.
You want that male approval.
What does he mean "if?"
14.11.2025 14:50 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It's so encouraging to this lifelong New Yorker to learn that someone in a position of power and authority in this City is doing research and consulting with those who are more experienced.
Compare this to the "Nobody needs to tell me anything, I got this" style of the outgoing Mayor Adams.
Bushwah. How many years have they been yapping about this? Has anyone actually done the work involved in putting together an alternative plan?

Why hasn't some other oath-giver done it? Surely there are plenty of notaries in Washington.
Oh come on, who could be surprised by that? Which Senators truly believed it in the first place?
If the Dems really mean that they're going to "fight," let's see them force this vote.

This is fascinating. As a lifelong New Yorker, I've spent years learning about the multitude of surnames I've come across in my hometown. After "Hello," my next utterance is usually "What kind of name is that?"

It would be a reminder to all of how good taste, elegance, and dignity belong there for Americans to admire and take pride in.
I just got a self-congartulatory email from Social Security bragging about the 2026 COLA increase.
Of course it doesn't mention the increase in the monthly cost of Medicare Part B.
That's the lot of us old folks these days: running in place, going backwards, fighting for our own money.
I started out that way. And I think as we get older we become more secure about ourselves (if we're lucky), and develop more of a "live & let live" & "it takes all kinds" posture. That's another aspect of liberalism, & it carries over into politics.
