OBBB: A spectrum pipeline and FCC auction authority Congress ordered a spectrum pipeline of 800 megahertz but only specifies 100 megahertz. The FCC and NTIA have to find 700 more, with 500 from federal use.

After months of debate, Congress has passed its reconciliation package, including a renewal of the FCC’s #spectrum auction authority, which expired in March 2023.

Senate Republicans 'very close' to deal to protect key DoD spectrum in reconciliation language - Breaking Defense Democrat Sen. Maria Cantwell of Washington, where Boeing is headquartered, continues to raise concerns about potential interference with civil and military aviation.

Senate eyes more spectrum for 5G – but not lower 3GHz Senators appear to have reached an agreement to allocate up to 800MHz of spectrum for 5G and other commercial uses. But the lower 3GHz band is not included in that allocation.

While the “One Big Beautiful Bill” remains in negotiation, major #spectrum provisions in the bill could create a pipeline for commercial use while protecting defense operations.
